Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame
Baseball fans are treated to new ways to interact with the game in these interactive kiosks that combine 3-D models, video, and audio recording.
contribution
This suite of interactives in the new Hall of Fame at Kauffman Stadium was a great opportunity to work with new technology and create successful concepts for user-generated content. I did original research on ballparks, worked with contract writers and multiple video production teams in Kansas City, in addition to shepherding the design and development of all the interactives.
Using OpenGL to create a 3-D stadium model that can be manipulated in real-time, the Design Your Own Ballpark interactive allows insight into how designers and ball players consider the structural design of a ballpark. Visitors can create their own ballpark, learn what kind of strengths their field plays to, and send an image of their creation to themselves. In the Sports Broadcasting interactive visitors review great Royals plays and call their own play. Working with the designer on the interactive flow of the experience, I developed video treatments that helped the film crew and interviewer capture the right tips from the seasoned broadcasters who guided visitors in understanding their craft. For the Oral History Stations, I worked closely with Real Media, the film producers, to ensure that their videos worked within the Flash interface our team created.
